The Government of Belize through the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Culture (MTCAC) has received financing from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), toward the cost of the Belize Sustainable Tourism Program and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the Contract for Belize City Fort Point Pedestrian Walk Project #CCS004.

The works will consist of the rehabilitation of streets from the Swing Bridge, along North Front Street to Fort Street and inclusive of North and South Park Street and Cork Street. A complete renovation of the Memorial Park will take place, earthworks and drainage, with a focus on the Memorial and local celebrations components in balance with the tourism activities to be added.

Scope of works will include:

• Memorial Park: +/- 1 acre of hardscape and +/- 1 acre of permeable surface, landscaping
• Streetscape: +/-10,000 linear feet of sidewalks (stampcrete)
• 3,500 linear feet roadbed (cobblestone)
• 1,500 linear feet asphalt road improvement
• Public Bathrooms (minimum 3 female stalls, 2 urinal, 1 male stall)
• Permanent and Day kiosks for vendors;
• Rehabilitation of the Memorial Area: Plaza, Seating, monument and gazebo
• Construction of new stage and amphitheater seating
• Construction of new flag pole and hardscaped assembly area
• Provision of street furniture, continuous street lighting, signage, and planters;

International Environments Limited presented the lowest evaluated cost of BZ$5,543,735.35. The bid received was responsive to the ToR and met all qualifying criteria; the STP team has selected International Environments Ltd. as the winning firm for the Construction of the Belize City Fort Point Pedestrian Walk Project.

Contract Amount: 5 million, four hundred seventy three thousand, seven hundred fifty three Belize dollars and thirty five cents.

Duration of contract: The construction period is 12 months ending February 2013.
