The Steering Committee is convened as a subcommittee of the Belize National Tourism Council (BNTC) in order to provide overall strategic guidance, ensure stakeholder participation, and promote inter-sectoral co-ordination within the management and implementation of the STP.

The PSC is co-chaired by the Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Culture and Director of Tourism for the Belize Tourism Board. Sector representation is provided from Belize Tourism Industry Association, the Department of Environment, National Institute of Culture and History and the Institute of Archaeology, Protected Areas Conservation Trust  and the Ministry of Works. The STP Project Director, also sits on the Project Steering Committee.
